Windows iexplore.exe seach bar removal

Hi

I'm on my brother-in-laws computer and he has some annoying seach bar on there which he wants me to remove. I cant seem to figure out what search bar it is and/or which process it is running as if at all. Any ideas how I can find out and/or remove it.

There are no options to remove it, the one shown in the pic is merely a link to another loan site.

it also appears to be attached to every explorer window. i.e. mydocuments, control panel. my computer. It has attached its self to every windows shell.

 

Give us a nice print screen of all the running processes then, chances are it's in there

 

you could try disabling 3rd party web extensions in your internet settings on the computer ?

 

What have you tried?

First check should be Control Panel/Add & Remove Programs, just in case it's listed there with a name.

Then Ad-aware or similar. Usually finds (and puts a name to) the bad stuff even if it can't permanently remove it. Then Google is your friend.

 

Run a couple of spyware programs (never rely on just one to find everything), then it would probably be worth your while installing Browser Hijack Retaliator (FREEware) on the system, to help prevent something similar happening again
