rofl its people like you SAMUEL that are causing the panic buying, starts with a rumour of petrol increasing by half a penny then everyone is hitting the pumps and causing havoc on the forecorts, I blame you, you alone.

nope its due to the fact that im off to newmarket this weekend for the isaca/db drag finals so needed to fill a 4 gallon can just incase and had people looking at me as if i was the devil himself in a church

yes ok i get just under 50mpg out of my golf even when its weihged down with car audio/me/general crap im not risking getting caught short away from home

Dad: theres fuel blockads planned this week in the UK as unleaded fuel (95 ron so the cheap stuff) is over a quid in some places

i jsut paid 97.9p for diesel

It took me forever to fill up on the way home from work today. I wasn't panic buying because I know there won't be a shortage, I just had a nearly empty tank.

Even Tesco is up to 93.9p now :(

I walked (hah :D) past a garage earlier and saw at least four customers filling up loads and loads of petrol cans each.

    Sigh...

they are lining up for petrol blocking the roads round here. people are so stupid.

the thinking of anyone who is waiting in line for petrol with out a legitamate reason-

"omg the world is going to end because we cannot get petrol and so wont be able to go to work for a few days, and this is all because of a stupid blockade that last time got the tax on petrol reduced. so i must wait in line for upto a hour to ensure that i have a small amout more petrol then it is likly I would have had anyway befor the blockade starts."

i will admit i did not feel comfortable filling a container with fuel i really did not but as i am driving literally to the other side of the country, the engine will be running most fo the weekend to power the hifi and then driving back up i needed a fuel continer with some extra

like i would do at any weekend long event anyway

When filling up a petrol can, MAKE SURE ITS GROUNDED. Because if it isn't the whole thing will blow. If you have a truck, YOU MUST NEVER FILL IT UP WHEN THE CAN IS ON THE TRUCK. It will blow.

Just be careful, there were plenty of incidences in the fuel strike of 2000 where people blew up their cars and houses!

But then in 2000 there was some moron out round Nottingham who filled his green wheelie bin with fuel. The fire brigade had to go out to that little mess.

As for me, Im not panic buying, in fact Im not buying fuel at all, well not until my company fuel card arrives. My new company car, Mini Cooper S came with 3/4 of a tank and Im running it down till the card arrives as Im not paying for petrol.

There isn't a fuel crisis until people get word that there *might* be a fuel crisis. Then all the bright people try to put a LITRE of fuel in their car when it's already nearly full, yes it happened UK-wide in 2000.

Sorry but its people like the person that started this thread that give rise to such measures as fuel 'rationing'. Its madness, aloha lines at filling stations :)
