By working for best buy, we get vendor direct discounts. I have narrowed it down to two cards, the AIW 9800Pro or the 9800 XT

    the 9800XT=300 USD
    the AIW 9800 Pro=240 USD

I have a TV WONDER VE Tuner, which is bad, is the AIW any better? also, I play a lot of games, but I do more stereo and Media than anything. For 40 bucks, would you get faster/ twice the ram or go for media card? i dont/not paying for PCI express, or getting anything capable for about 8 or 9 months.

Tbh this should've been in Hardware, but no matter. If i were you, i'd get the XT, simply for the joys of one of the fastest cards around, but i don't use a TV card so i wouldn't really know. :thumb:

If I were you I'd do me a favour and have me send me one of each, free of charge. But then again, I am not you, but that doesnt stop you from treating yourself by sending one or more to me, by which, I mean you. which is in actuality me.

    got it?

    get it!

    give it!

    (to me)

if i were you i'd post less spam :p

im with rtt on this one, go for the 9800XT especially if you already have a tv card, even if it isnt very good
never really seen the point of tv cards really (well i see the point of them but i personally have never had the need or want for one)

and the 9800XT is a lovely card, even if the stock cooler has the heat dissipation properties of a cabbage (ie, it sucks :) )

I wish, they mainly do this to try and help clear their stock. maybe if i found a dual AGP mobo i could do both...

IIRC you can't get a dual AGP card as AGP isnt actually a bus as PCI is, so can't have more than one slot cuz it connects directly to the processer as it doesnt use a bus, (i think thats right, i took my A+ the other day so i'm gonna shoot myself if i'm wrong :wallbash: )

My friend loves his 9800 XT but I don't know about the other one.
I'm also in the market for one. Wanna send one down to San Antonio?

afaik, the AGP is controlled by the chipset. So if you had a chipset capable of 2agps, they'd be able to make Dual agp.
although like you said its not a bus, so you can only have one thing on the "controller"(chipset in this case)

I would go with the 9800 XT. I have it in my new rig and it works great. Don't get the all-in-wonder because it's useless unless you're using freevo or don't want to buy a tv. There aren't any dual AGP mobos, believe me. If you want two
cards, go with an agp and a secondary in a PCI slot.

I wouldn't, the 9800 XT is well overpriced in the current market. Get a 9800 Pro for half the price and nearly equivalent performance, or an X800 Pro for not much more money and twice the performance ;)

Alienware have Dual AGP in their top systems, but IIRC thay plug into some kind of anadaptor and are probably specifically produced cards in order to have all the power running in parallel to a single output.
