Modding I'm a virgin modder and i need some advise please :)

I've recentle cut a hole in my AVGS Cyber fusion case . .

but the people over at tekheads accidently shipped a smoked window instead of a clear one. I was planning on putting a blue cathode in it but i'm not sure how well it will show up through the smokey window. Does anyone know if this is likely to look good?


Also, can anyone point me in the direction of some guides to painting my drive panels (they have their crappy beige colour at the mo) and want them a matt black. I'm also quite interested in changing the LED to a different colour but i don't have any soldering experience hehe - is it hard?

If anyone has any other tips for me to mod up my case that would be great!

hey you experienced dudes where are you now????? goddamnit show yourselfs!! (hey, be cool dude, you just got to have patience with these fat ass dudes . And ofcourse some "damn" and "****" will always do you good too ) I can't help you myself as I am a totally noob when it comes to modding too.

 

I would have thought it would just cut down on some of the glare that would come of from the cathode. If you didn't want the smoked window why don't you send it back?

I cant say how good the neon will show up but all i can suggest is emailing sam for a replacement, or maybe you like hte timt I dunno ...

Changing leds is quite simple, cut off the wires on the led and attacth them to the new led by first putting a touch of solder on hte iron, warm up the wire and them join the two bits together, add a bit of solder ... 3 hands recommeneded ...

im sure someone can tell you which was round to put the led as I am in a bit of a rush ... easy to do .. trust me...

Well welcome! Personally I think a smoked window in a black case looks pretty slick anyway, but it's down to personal preference. You don't actually loose that much light through the smoking as far as I know.
Try sticking Macroman's hard drive light array mod in; that'd look real nice.

I went out and bought a dremmel and a soldering iron today. i do intend on practicing on somefink else first tho as i have'nt soldered before.

To be honest i really like what Macroman did to his lian Li case with regards to the fibre optics on the blank plates for his drives - looks damn cool and a really nice original touch.

If your reading this, do u think you could write a little guide to show how you did it? ie, did u take the drive facia's off? how in fecks name did u line up the fibre optics with the LED's? etc etc. I'd really appreciate it.
