Quite so. I've calmed down quite a bit now, thankfully. Everything just came on the same day: the letter saying I have to leave (which, btw, is not for paying the rent a week late, or breaking two small things, or two small holes in the wall - they want the property for themselves, basically); the call from management saying they wanted a chat with me about the job (sorted, now - 't was indeed fattie trying to get jobs for his little friends...); general discontent at mainly English people (being purposefully ignored, rudeness, mockery of my accent [not in a friendly way]); whilst all in all I am a nice guy who just wants a decent life, a bit of contentment and peace.
That, together with the SIA being a bitch and the ol' country being a whore about sending me my (empty) criminal record; a change in their laws on citizens living abroad now needing compulsory abroad-IDs rather than the regular ones (suddenly making my ID invalid); the fact that I want to move on, do courses and stuff but every little thing in this country is so overpriced; being treated like a retard; etc etc... it all went *boom* in my head :)

But, I still have my job on the same terms as before (£5.80ph, 7pm-7am, five days a week is fineish but if I want more they'll gladly oblige); once the girlfriend finishes university in Birmingham later this year she's coming down here; and a local security company which looks decent is still desperate for licensed staff, so once that gets through I should get a (much) better-paid permanent job.

The drinking will drop significantly once I'm no longer living alone (as I don't feel the need when we're together); two paychecks, one rent; ... Basically, a few more weeks/months of trodding through the mud and it should start working out.

And yes, I am lucky to be abroad, having a flat of my own (well, you know :p), at 23 years old - but that's only because I packed my bags and left. I guess that's another main point of annoyance, apart from the ones mentioned - and possibly the biggest one - is that moving here would've been my first big achievement, and now after just under a year I'm worse off financially and I still don't feel as if I have progressed.

Ah well. Thanks for all the replies (even the bitchy ones ;)), it's often nice to get other people's perspective and to see the situation from different points of view.

Now there's a much better attitude :). I'm glad you've still got your job as that's one last thing to worry about, how long before you'll be able to get your license and get a better job? Keep us updated when you find a new place to live, job, etc.

With the changed laws (making my current identification invalid), it's added another four to six weeks, so that'd make a total of eight to twelve weeks; but hey - I can wait. The "good" thing about the whole England-thing is that everything seems to cost a huge amount of money here, so not everyone can proverbially jump in front of the queue and get an SIA license as they cost £245 just to request 'em. I guess I've got time.

I'm übercalm now as the most beautiful girl in the world is asleep in my bed. "Why, Mr Khensu, are you online?", you might wonder. Well, my sleeping pattern is f'ed :grr: Ah well. **** everything, **** the system, **** the bankers and the employers, and before anyone thinks I am one: **** the leftists, commies and anarchists :p

Life sucks, but the only alternative has a lot more suckage-potential, so maybe it's best to just go with it? :)
