No, but it won't be long - just need to sort out the woodwork, and fit the new fuel cap.

Now that this one is almost done, are you considering another project? A Locost perhaps?

I've not thought about it to be honest. I don't think I'll be building another car soon, as I simply won't have the space - I'm not getting rid of Vikki after all this effort so I can start on another car.

At some point in the future, I'd love to have a crack at building one of these though:

    Or maybe one of these:

But that's all a flat cap and pipe dream at the moment. :)

Well, it seems the only logical thing to do is to find a larger estate. That, or renting a workspace. Because I'm really feeling that C-type.

Ooh, a c-type would be epic. Hard getting a non-german six to go in it though.

I'm still determined to build a hawk hf.

Opel had an I6 from 1966-1999. I'm willing to bet there is a Vauxhall around that used that engine.

And there are a few Nissan ones from skylines floating around.

All suffolk cars are based on Jag donors - XJ's mostly. So I6 engine not a problem. :)

Just went through your entire thread and I must say AWESOME work bud, hats off to the time and effort into the build! :thumb:

After I've had my fun with my current Evo project I will be looking at a Westfield/7/Caterham project to get stuck into and seeing your thread has made me want to start it already lol :worried:

Sweet! Plenty of mechanically good, cosmetically ruined XJ's about for bugger-all money.

Yeah, but that's a V6 Diesel... Not the sort of thing you put in a C-Type. ;)

Besides, I couldn't do that to Kitty. Plenty of life in the old girl yet. :)

Both Opel and Vauxhall are owned by GM. That I6 design was brought to both through Detroit, derived from the Gen 3 straight 6/Pontiac straight 6. It would just be found in the UK through Opel, but it's not a German design. The I6(OHV) that Opel used from 1930-1966 WAS a German design.

    Are you sure?
the GM motor you're referring to is an OHV, while the opel engines are OHC or DOHC

According to this Wikipedia the Gen 6 was never available below 3.2 liters, while the opel engines were 2.5 and 3.0.

They were used (and built) in Brazil however in opel coachwork.

More progress the evening - high level tail lamps mounted:

The mounting saddles are made of 35mm aluminium bar that has been machined by yours truly at his engineering night class. :)

They're attached by a couple of stainless M4 cap head screws which are countersunk into the saddle. The lamp is held in place by the two M4 grub screws you can see on the back of each saddle.

I need to take them off and paint them satin black like the roll bar. I've toyed with the idea of polishing the aluminium up, but I think black would be better.

I still need to chase the wires through the bar yet as well - but I've got a special fishing cable / tape to help with that.

Try using a sewing thread and a vacuum cleaner. :)

Yeah, a vacuum cleaner and a piece of wire with a piece of cloth on one end works great
(use it for pulling networkcables through wall-piping)
Personally, I like the aluminum look to go with the polished signals, but you can see better than us, clearly :thumb:

Your trim still looks pink :D
