Graphics I'm curious!

    As to why GTX 470 and 480 cards only have a Memory bus of 320 Bit when older cards such as my GTX 275 has a 448-Bit Memory Bus, I know the GTX 470 and 480 will no doubt be faster but why has the Memory bus been decreased, i've always wondered about that so thought I'd ask :)

    The first thought I had when I read the title of this thread was 'well, if you feel that way you should explore your true feelings' ;) .

    Anyway, I think it's something to do with the shift from GDDR3 to GDDR5.

    Gddr5 doesn't need the same memory bandwidth

    And most cards are not memory capped pre 2500+ Rez

    Yeah, the older cards needed a higher memory bandwidth to keep up with the ATI cards since they used slower GDDR3 memory.
