This one is for GUI_Gooey: "I'm Really Gonna Miss Systematically Destroying This Place" (This will be the first and last Onion link I'm likely to post in my short bleak lifetime!)
...not to mention some level of intelligence. I'm waiting for the moment he opens the George W Bush Presidential Library...full of Spot & Dr Seuss books
I can't really joke about the Bush administration. It had corruption on the level of, and beyond the Nixon era, hell even Nixon stopped ended a war and supported universal health care. Never has an administration been so unchallenged when it was so deserved it. The only question is which was worse, the public or the democrats for both letting them off the hook and equally wallowing in corruption.
bulls in a china shop don't make as much damage as bush did, bulls in a china shop don't do that much damage... so the guys at myth busters say...
George Bush would be a great new disaster you could unleash in the next Sim City. I think Will Wright should get right on that.
Not really, Godzilla would attack then Bush would push for war with japan then china because they look the same then round up and inter asian-americans in foreign camps then be unable to find Godzilla because he declared a war against the abstract concept of "disasters" goddamnitIcantcontinuehowhasthisguywentonforsolong
ok, what if the bull was the american military and the china shop is the middle east? And we'll just forget what happened in new orleans...
Sadly enough, Dr Seuss contains a level of surrealist humour that would be way over his head. He's probably tried to read The Hungry Caterpillar at some point, though. Ahhh...hating Bush is too easy now, it's not even valid. Like hating chavs and emos, it's become too obvious to be legitimate. @OP: nothing wrong with a good Onion link now and then.
Yes, which is precisely why I'll leave future links to you (and others). (Nothing wrong with Onion links, of course -- only, in a New York office like mine, you're likely to have three such forwards in a day! Better than jpegs of hideous dancing Snoopy posters, obviously, but common enough they don't need boosts from me. Perhaps The Onion is slightly more anomalous outside of the East Coast.)
In typical manner, in his last press conference Bush looked to shift the blame in a subtle way. Bush cited "not having weapons of mass destruction" in Iraq among his list of disappointments. In other words, launching an increasingly unpopular war under false pretenses wasn't the mistake. It was Iraq's fault. Also, unsurprisingly, as the rest of the world is working on a troubled global economy he continued to bang the war-drums of terrorism. Over 7 years later and he's still using that tired line. -monkey
Really? I thought Iraq having WMD was supposed to be a bad thing. Now he's disappointed it didn't have any? The German newspaper, Der Spiegel, illustrates just how Bush is viewed by the rest of the world: Even in his final speech, Bush gave his view of the most urgent threat facing the incoming president: an attack on the United States. He chose that risk over the dire economic problems now facing the nation. Wishful thinking? I suspect it is just breathtaking arrogance: that his worldview is the only right one. This is a man who doesn't have to rationalise his mistakes, because he truly believes that he didn't make any.
I'm gonna miss Bush. Politics won't be the same without him - It'll be boring once more. Yeah, the kids playpen and clown wallpaper were taken away before Obama got President Elect.
