thanks deathrow im so immature when you were the one who was bitching because your stuff wasnt mailed at the right second and read the entire thread before you post.
I did read the entire thread and there is a huge difference between complaing about people not doing their jobs correctly and biting peoples heads off when they say somthing you dont want to hear, pillow.
ok, im sorry im a noob i need to relearn everything and waste more time not trying to make a business but then get told that i shouldnt make one because im a noob. when all i want to do is help some friends out.
Look mate, I know it sucks to hear what people are telling you, but people aren't telling you just to make you unhappy, its genuine advice, coming from people who've tried the same thing, and realised how hard it is. Building them is the easy part, having people calling you every 2 weeks because something isn't working, them giving inaccurate descriptions of whats wrong, having destroyed their systems with spyware and viruses, and then there being intermitant problems, fixing that, thats the hard bit. Not getting paid a penny, because they expect that since you built the PC so it must be your fault, thats the really hard bit. If you can't do the easy part with confidence, and without needing any help, then the hard part is going to be so much harder. If you want to help some friends out then build the PC's for cost price, it'll be good experience for you, and they won't have any reason to expect free suport for the rest of that PC's lifetime.
specofdust i agree with this comment. i can build the pc, i should have done this differently then what i did, that is my fault and i have already said this. im going to go with the configuration i have right now (which no one helped me with). im not really looking for that much money out of this if at all, and i will help them fix their problems since im a nice guy and it will be good experience as you said. also, what do you mean by your last paragraph are you saying it is bad for me to build them, because they will not get support or what? Edit: i can understand one or two people saying that i shouldnt do this or i need more help, but everyone telling me this gets kinda annoying. i brought this upon myself and that is my fault. so can some one see that i am taking repsonsibility for this and im sorry for my behavior. this past weeks have been every stresful at school, several projects and test. f.b.
What I was saying in my last paragraph, was that, if you just want to build some PC's for friends, the best thing to do would be to treat it as a learning opertunity. Get them to pay for all the parts and postage, but you pick the parts, put them together, get them working nicely, and deal with any inital problems. Thats a good way of learning stuff. But, because they havn't paid you anything, they cant expect ongoing support, and they have no reason to complain if they ask and you refuse it to them.
that is my plan, i will choose parts, they buy. i will help them with any problems that arise, so if somehting does happen i will be there, plus they are my friends and that would not be nice. edit: i will charge like 15 bucks, compared to some one i knew who helped a guy set up his dell for 60+ and then complained about not getting enough money.
Just make sure you dont break nothin when you put it together or you will need more than $15 to cover the costs Nah ive done stuff liek this before but i knew was i putting in it without having to ask asd his computer aint even crashed once!!! Mine dont even work as good as that!!! Gd Luck Neo
sorry that i seem to not know what im doing, but i have been researching parts for some time now, i just wanted a second opinion, because it will not be my comp. So i want the very best for them, also that way i can get a good word. Also it is hard dealing with them, since they are not sure exactly what they want becuase they dont know **** about computers and i guess that i made it seem that i didnt too. How i stated this in the begining was the wrong approach. i see how people can say that im not ready for this. can we all just stop this argument and roast on those kids that dont know **** about comps? we all like the same thing, since we are all memebers at bit-tech. i have learned from my mistake and i will not let this happen again.
the parts i have choosen are below and you guys can say how much it sucks or not it if you want to. Remeber there is a 750 dollar price limit with shipping. i should have prolly done this in the first place, but now i know. i did choose these by myself. if anyof you guys want to comment on my lack of knowlege you can since i dont care anymore. specs: amd 3200+ XFX PVT42GUAD7 6800gs ABIT KN8 SLI CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB (2 x 512MB) Antec TRUEPOWERII TPII-550 ATX12V 550W then a coolermaster case that he picked, i will be using his old hd and cd drive. I cant link to the exact ones, but everyhting is from newegg, beacuse i have a 8 page paper due morrow and it is 10:20.
I think that setup you got there is pretty good. Im assuming this guy wont be overclocking? That gcard is pretty good for the price. As far as i know its rival is the X1600XT? You could flash and use the 16 pipelines in the X800GTO, but the GS may outdo it without voiding your warranty so i think its the safe bet, Neo
he wont be overclocking since he dont know what is in a comp. the reviews i have read all have the 6800gs as faster then the x800gto, although i will do some research about wether the x800gto when flashed is faster. but that will have to wait untill tomorrow.
you dont need a 550W power supply :/ 400W is by far enough for this system. Also tbh i wouldn't charge a penny (cent) ... if his computer breakes his parents are going to be like " didn't you pay that pillow guy " --"yes" "well get him on the phone" as you said so yourself "this past weeks have been every stresful at school, several projects and test." looks like you wanted have much time.
