Purely out of curiosity on my part... is it possible to get a hackintosh running on a virtual machine like VirtualBox?

I know very little about Macs and wouldn't mind playing around with the OS.

Fanboyism aside, it's worth the investment if you are willing to deal with the relatively closed system. It's a shiny and nice piece of kit. Just as long as you don't like tinkering, it's great.

On the other hand, it is quite a bit of cash to splurge on. Moreso than a gaming rig and a nice monitor.

I think your computers are the least of your problems.

Exactly. It's your home as well.

iMac: Can't really do any serious gaming.. can't tinker with it... difficult and ultimately pointless to upgrade... expensive.... slow... awful screens... sh1te keyboards... retarded mice. All because your wife says so?

I really, really don't want to be contentious or insult anyone here.... but the phrase "grow a pair" springs to mind. How about you start making her get rid of some of her sh1it to save space... see how she likes it.

There... i'll get behind my flameproof wall now... but that's my opinion. If I offended you.. I'm seriously sorry... but... just but.. LOL

Build a nice mini ATX system and a U2711. iMacs are crap. I use one all day at work and I hate the damned thing.

Shes not that bad its a little playful banter thats all. My flat is very small its a 1 bedroom flat and theres 2 adult (myself and the wife) and 3 young kids so my PC and gaming has to take the back seat as its not the most important thing.

I just make her out to be bad but shes alright and she doesnt make the decisions i do but family things come first then my rig

Fair comment. I felt bad saying that, as it's none of my business. In light of the space you have, she may have a point then. However... Mini ITX and a 2711? Surely that won't take up much more space than a iMac... and can still pack a punch if you buy the right board.

dont feel bad its all cool here i didnt take anything you said to heart as how would anyone on here know about the way a person lives. Apart from a couple of people who have popped round my house from bit-tech

im going to build a rig again but first will get a dell 27" then get a GPU as i wont be able to get both together

@Im_wfc its very cosy but very expensive on the rental side but thats what you get for living in London.

I went from full size ATX to mATX for my main rig when I moved out of the family home last month thinking that when I moved into the flat I'm in now I'd end up with a smaller room. One of the guys dropped out so I ended up with the bigger room, however mATX and ITX don't have pack a punch.

My current build whilst it's not an i5 or i7 goes like hell :)

If you could build something as small as a Revo, you could mount it to the monitor. Does the 2711 have VESA mounts?

Wait for the HP Z1 to come out, best of both worlds.
