I was just looking through my server logs, and noticed I was getting a few calls for a particular image I had on the server. I checked out the site and they had used it on their webpage. They didn't seek permission to do so, so I thought I would pay back the manners they showed. The page with the image can be found here: http://www.3d-shutter-glasses.net/blog/be-giving-a-go-in-virtual- I basically copied the original image they stole, renamed it for my purposes, and changed the original to the one they are showing live now. Wonder how long it will take before they notice the edit? The image was just one I used on another forum, in a post, but it was my property. I hate tea leafs!!
they didnt even bother to rehost.. oh well that's pretty tame compared to what you could have done =]
I lol'ed. Rep has been given. Edit: This prompted me to check my own server logs.. lots of unauthorized hotlinking going on.. gah
Good on you stuartpb, I don't like to get all "newfags suck" on everyone, but 9/10 people these days don't seem to understand that hotlinking is rude as hell. Bout time people started putting scripts on their servers that automatically provide Goatse to any website requesting too much access to an image.
Excellent! @Cptn-Inafinus - I tend to have a quick look through my web logs looking for what sites are linking to what page - so far no one's tried it... lol
I totally agree with what you are saying regarding hotlinking, and commed you on the awesome steps you have taken to discourage it rep++
Thanks for the rep guys I waited to see if the owner of the site would remove the hotlinked image, and as of today they haven't. I sent an email the other day too, but got no reply. Seems that whoever owns the site doesn't bother with it much. I may create an advert for my business and use that as the image instead Or I may think up another 'eye catching' image
