hey, i have in my parts box a dell motherboard with an e8500(3.16ghz) in it, a bit ram, but very crappy intel integrated gfx. as this is a little case (forgot the name), there is a kind of smallish pci-express slot (not even sure it is a real pci-e slot), with the warning that any graphics card inserted cannot draw more than 75W. as my brother is still typing away on a P4 era computer, i'd like to give this one to him, but with a somewhat decent GFX. preferably low profile. i'm looking to spend around 50 euro's, preferably less. any toughts? links would be cool, i live in Belgium.
smallish pci-express slot? You can get low profile Ati 4550 or 4650, im not sure on power figures though.
It'll be PCI-e x16, the 75W warning just refers to the maximum amount of power that can be provided through an x16 slot (i.e. without external power connectors).
it is an dell optiplex 775 motherboard, have no pics, but google is your friend. and you could be right about the 75w trough the slot, because there are no spare molexes/pci power connectors. is something like a 4650 good for some light gaming? probably, as i have two 4850's in crossfire and they eat everything i throw at them
