As per the title, I'm currently looking for a moderate sized TV.

Uses: Primary display for a PS3 and media PC. These devices will use it to display high resolution PS3 games, Blu-ray movies, and other content from the PC. It will be used for some light web browsing, but this is not a priority.

Location: I intend to place this TV on a desk in my bedroom. It will be viewed primarily from a bed 6-8 feet away at a slight angle, though it will occasionally be used within range of headphones when speakers would disrupt housemates. I bring up the location because I'm a little worried about what size will meet both needs well.

What I'd like: A rich and accurate display. It won't be used for photoshop or any such application, but I like to watch my movies in true color. The various home theater gimmicks which alter colors to "enhance" the picture bother me. RGB LED backlighting would be nice, because of this.

Budget: $625 preferred, $700 hard max.

TV shopping may be simple enough for Average Joe to walk into Wal-Mart and walk out with something advertised as a visual god, but I'd like to actually get something good. With so much marketing hype in TV industry I'd appreciate any real insights, tips or product suggestions which anyone can provide!

Thanks for the input from both! :)

Thought it'd be fun to post a couple pet peeves found while researching. The first from a product description for a Sony TV:

Gah! Just because I have blue Christmas lights in my room at the moment does not mean I want you messing with my color balance!

And this one from user comments on a Samsung similar to the one you posted Pete (looking for the closest one Newegg has to it!):

This is exactly why I prefer forums to user reviews. I apologize, this is a bit of a rant, but if your previous experience with displays is a piddly 22" monitor then why even leave a comment? Your opinion of the product won't reflect how good it is compared to equivalent products. No one reads reviews to know that their new device will be better than their old device! They won't to know which new device is best.

Also, "the full 32" display in max resolution"? Your computer will work just as hard to display a picture on that TV as it will on my 24" monitor of the same resolution, why mention size at all unless you are misguided?

And lastly, this is a post from mid-2010 and you're getting, wait for it, 9800GTs in SLI? Holy two generations behind, Batman. And you're pairing them with an i7 930? And 8GB on a 1366 system? I hope there's some back story about some ridiculous deals he got.

Frustration vented, back to shopping! :)

It's the same as the Argos reviews on items, amusing at best :p There's nothing I can fault with the TV, for the price it's very very good :)

I just got a Vizio E370VA 37" and it's just a awesome TV I picked it up for a $400 Shipped. The pictures amazing but it has some sound issues mainly with talking being drowned out if you can deal with that or pick up some surround sound which if you can spend $700 then getting the Vizio for $400 and spend $300 on speakers you'll have a great media center.
