No, the point is that the distinction between panel type and backlight type is important. After all the distinction between fuel type and gearbox type is pretty important in cars. This was also the point of GoodBytes's post. LED screens are really poor while LCD screens are comparatively good, no matter what kind of backlights they have.
Yes, but my point was that everyone here knows what each of us are talking about when we refer to LCD or LED TVs, so when I say 'LED TVs are pretty good now' - everyone knew what I was talking about.
Most of us here might know that yes, but many people out there don't. False marketing relies on ignorance. I prefer not to spread that. It's just one extra word to write "LED backlit TV" instead of "LED TV".
Is there any reason to derail this thread? It's just rude. Give some advice or go away. Goodbytes I am disappointed in you, you've always been the best resource on bit-tech for screen advice and I often look for your contribution to a thread as the last word, what's with the petty comments. And mm vr when someone comes along that doesn't know what a led panel vs led backlit panel I will point them in your direction. But for now let's get back on the TV shopping advice. Sorry for the naggy post. Once again I would recommend john Lewis and a nice led backlit tv. When I got mine i took out a john Lewis card and got 6 month interest free credit as well which meant I could do that little bit more renovating that month.
I prefer to correct any wrong advice in addition to offering my own. I don't just look away pretend that something was not said because somebody might think it's rude to disagree. Disagreements create discussions, which are the point of online forums, and everyone can learn something new.
