Is it possible to put a PS2 inside a computer? I've never seen it before and it would be cool if it is possible, I've got a spare 5.12" bay and could free another if I got rid of one of my old CD drives. I got a TV card so I can actually connect the PS2 to the computer already (externally). But for convenience it would be great to have an internal PS2

I've opened up my PS2 before and by the looks of it, it could be possible to have the CD drive in one of the 5.25" bay and the controller + memory card ports in another bay.

Tell me what you think and if it's possible give me some tips and I mite just try it (After all my PS2 is 4 yrs old and I'll just buy another if it breaks!)

I'm aware of the fact that I need a separate power plug and need a cable for the av inputs, I have those already and there's a hole in the case for some reason, perfectly placed next to the TV card....

I'll be looking out for yoshis boxx

Yea, thx, but thats the PSX, slightly different to the PS2, but I think it'll be easier, and for Yoshis boxx, all the websites for this seem to be down, but tomorrow after I get back from London ( ) I'll open up the PS2 and see what I can do!

Right Yoshi, wrong mod. Anyways, Yoshi's Boxx was friggin huge, so if you get around to doing this mod, for god's sake do a better job of it.

The possibility of succeeding with this mod is there, if you strip the innards out of the ps2 then mount them somewhere in your case, all you'd have to do is have connectors going out of a pci slot or something. are you trying to connect it to your monitor, or just to have the ps2 in the same box as the pc?

As I said earlier I have a TV card, so the PS2 will be connected will be connected to it, along with an aerial using analogue connectors, not scart

As for the ribbon, I knew that already, but I'm hoping that I can 'fold' the PS2, so that one part is above another, but that will mean that the memory card and controller slots will be upside down, but thats better than the CD Drive being upsidedown!

Will open the PS2 2nite, I can take some photos of the progress if you want... :dremel:

if your case has the room you could mount the mobo on the underside of the case roof. that would allow you to mount the DVDROM and HDD in the 5 1/4 in trays. thats what i would do if i had a PS2 lying around however im not much of a console player. eh each to his own :thumb:

    Mustn't have seen that...

I was under the impression that TV cards used S-video but a ps2 doesn't have s-video so I was confused.

However now i understand, and you could always just cut a small slot in the case (stealth the ps2 drive) and then mount the actual mobo etc. anywhere.

I dont think that would work because of the PSU, it is in the way and there's no way I can move it, it means cutting the case etc, which I am not going to do, thanks for the idea anyay :thumb:

You say you've disassembled it before, I'm trying to figure out how to remove the plastic in the middle of the PS2 holding everything together without cutting it or anything, just in case I abandon my plan and want to put the PS2 back together. so...

how do you remove that plastic bit?

And does anyone know where i can get a cheap non-working PS2 that I can practice taking everything apart cos I don't want to break my working one (any PS2 fan would understand!) :D

I abandoned my plan cos the PS2 would take up 2 drive spaces in the PC, I only had one left (not anymore!), I'll just have the PS2 situated next to my PC! I have a TV card, and my sixth form is residential, we're not supposed to have TV's in our rooms, but I got a sneaky aerial that doesnt look like one! The staff there are too dumb to know what it is!!! We have crystal clear TV recpetion in the area, and my room is overlooking a field in the direction of the mast, so lucky me!

    The aerial:

I'll just put in some paper and files in between the rods, and they'll just think its a paper holder :D
