Merge like a zip, I seem to recall. Its not a matter of people merging out of order, its a matter of people taking advantage of the emptying right lane to get forward, bear in mind this right hand lane is getting awfully narrow.

Calling it 'fast lane' is something I just grew up with, a concept I could understand better than 'inside lane' at the age of about 8, it stuck. Overtaking two overtaking lorries for example puts you in that lane, with the 10mph speed difference you wont get past them fast short of speeding (im sure a lot of us have gone 80 in this case just because its a ball-ache being stuck behind someone who isnt getting past them). I just recall one night least year when I was overtaking a middle lane driver (another problem all together) to look in my rear view at the blinding lights blinking at me. I cant think of many things more hazardous than trying to drive at 70 in the pitch black with some bumhole causing your iris to block out what limited light is in front of you.

Motorway driving should be compulsory on driving tests, or require pass plus to be taken before being allowed on the motorway.

pffft that's nowt. One busy saturday morning at sainsburies in wakefield a few years back I parked my little baby in the trolley bay. (OMG HOW INCONDSIERATE WHERE WILL TEH TROLLEYS PARK?!) (...there wern't any it was hectic ;))

Anyhoo i'm not too fussed when carpark is empty but what i HATE stems from a woman who came up to my mate (who works customer servce desk at a shopping centre) and said (and i quote) "There's no parent and child spaces left so I've parked in disabled, just to let you know!"
WTF?!?!?! Parent/child spaces are a privelege!!!! Not a neccessity. It is a bonus provided by stores at their own discretion. You don't even chuffing need one, we never had them when i was little and my mum never said 'ee ya know what, we could really benefit for some extra wide spaces instead of just coping with what is currently fine anyways' . Douchebags.

Haha, who owns a mini and HASN'T done that hasn't lived properly :p I've driven under Uni's car park barriers, and other dafties.

I think reading this thread is making me a worse car park-er, like playing GTA makes you more violent:

The problem here is the slow middle lane driver and the guy doing probably near 100, not the overtaking within the speed limit.

You two have restored my love of mini's, I'm going to have to get one now.

Towtrucks are the most inconsiderate parkers out there, bar none. Totally unrivaled.

my uni is a bit of a car parking nightmare, there are no lines for the spaces and people just park 2/3 of a cars width from the other ones at jaunty angles...

Sirocco just got a new mini too and is always ready to show it off! It's sweet. She has pics in latest purchase thread somewhere. Mini's are cool if you have small people to haul around. Not so good for 6 foot+ high schoolers!

    I'm 6'5 :p
And his is a new mini (EVILS ) well i rather like them, a lot of classic owners dont, but hey ho, you couldnt remake the old one in such a safe manner, and everyone wants ABS airbags power steering etc etc, you'd struggle to pack it all in!

Yeah, that's like teh new "HEMI" in the US. I bought a new 1969 Roadrunner with a real Hemi. The new ones down't compare but they put them in everything. A Hemi truck! Where does that get real? A Street Hemi from the 60's barely fit it ANYTHING it was put into.

The old Mini is still a very desirable car. I commute 5 miles to work and 5 home - by myself. An early Mini or a 2CV would be just what I need. I'm easy. Too bad the US Government and the car industries don't make something like this for the US market.

And its a shame the car has to be over 15 years old (iirc) to import into america, everyone usually wants the newer injection minis with AC(which wasn't even an option in the UK, unless you were mega rich or paid for an aftermarket installation(again i think!), its why a lot of log-books for trashed old cars are snapped up for so much, so they can just swap it with the injection model they have got claiming a 'full rebuild'.
