I'm on the hunt for a really hardy camera which can take a fair few drops and is preferably water resistant and fairly small in size.

Is there such a camera thats not going to be army standard and cost the earth?

i've only got about £180 to spend, and i need the camera for travelling. Hope you guys can help me :)

Perhaps I'll get flamed here, but have you considered disposable film cameras? Because they don't weigh much they can take a drop pretty well. They have water resistant models. They are small.

If this is short term travel, that's probably the route I'd go. It's also great because you aren't crushed if you lose it.

Well you could always buy a cheapo digital and some zip-lock bags and bubblewrap.

I have been using disposables but although they are ok, they don't guarantee a good pic, and also try travelling around with 10 disposables in your rucksack because they only take 30 pics each.

I need to be able to take loads of pictures inbetween uploading them or developing.

If you want, you can take the film out of a disposable after you are done. It's pretty easy. They run backwards - The film all starts out outside the film roll and each time you take a picture it goes inside the roll - when you are done they are all in the roll and you can just open up the disposable and take out the film.

That being said, the camera mentioned sounds awesome and would be more versatile.

I stick to disposables these days (when traveling,) because I lost 2 cameras in 1 summer. :(

I just remembered that the the Mju ( Oly 770sw) has a little blurb in this article, about 1/2 way down. If you want an idea of what it's capable of, check it out.

That Mju looks like a seriously awesome little camera. I'll remember that for a decent, unbreakable (or close enough) camera! :D

Haha, why are people recomending disposable cameras when they are complete crap?

My compact is an olympus mini-mju and although i don't use it anymore i was more then happy with it when it was my main cam.
