This should be a simple question that I can't seem to find the answer for. Is there a way to overclock the CPU in my inspiron 9400/e1705? All the links I fond concern overclocking the video card. In my case, I'm currently CPU limited.

Why would you want to over clock a laptop? they get hot enough, and it will reduce battery, your best off leaveing it alone 2bh

Why overclock? Check out the current Yonah prices and compare those with what they were before the Merom was offically released. But, at least in the few desktop boards that can take them, they look to overclock rather well.

As for heat and battery life, the inspiron 9400/e1705 is a 17 inch yonah based laptop with many having at least a geforce go 7800. Heat and battery life are not virtues of the system.
But it has served the purpose I bought it for exceptionally. It is a computer that lets me play PC games, run emulators, and generally keeps me entertained when I get to where I'm going.
It's rather difficult to get an ATX system and monitor into my luggage and fly to a customer :)

The heat issue shuld be more than manageable in the situations where I want to overclock it. The heatsinks have additional access besides that for the fans that allows me to get even more CFM across the heatsinks.
