is there a way for me to interface a secondary lcd into this computer, frogmonster style? The dvd+/-rw drive is right underneath the plastic, give about .5 cm tops on the left, and the battery on the right. Here's the service manual for the laptop if that helps at all
Wow. I think that would be a tough one. My battery pack didn't work and i never planned on using it away from a plug in. permanently removing the battery gave me all the space i needed. Yours is pretty stuffed. That fan is huge though. Smaller one maybe? Whats above the fan? btw... Does it support another monitor out?
ah, I didn't realize you removed the battery. That would signifigantly help, but unfortunately thats not an option in my case. What fan are you referring to? If you are referring to the one here then it doesn't really matter because that is at the back left of the system, underneath the keyboard and display Yes it does, there is a vga output on the back that I have used with a second display. Sounds like it might be a good idea to stick with a cool paint job.
how much space can you save by changing the hard drive to solid state. it may be enough to fit in an lcd screen there.
almost none lol laptop hdd's are tiny already and the SSD's aren't that much smaller. The best way of getting space I can see in that area on an E1505 is to use an external optical drive and take the built in one out.
Thats actually a brilliant idea. I don't use the optical drive that much, and can probably get an external dvdrw for not too much money.
glad to be of help hehe. I think the optical drive probably takes up the largest portion that's removable. Should be fairly easy to remove as well. Be wary of dell though it may not want to cooperate without an optical drive lol so make sure you try running the laptop without one b4 you start hacking stuff up.
is there some kind of cover I could manufacture/buy for the dvd slot? I wouldnt really want to have a gaping hole in the side of my laptop to let dust and such in. Also I don't know that compatibility will be much of an issue because my dell is running OS X which has darn good usb plug'n'pray drivers.
