I'm back again for more help.. I've been trying to install a fan that says it's for the PCI Slot (which I assume means that it pokes through the metal bits at the bottom of the case, under the I/O shield) but the bloody thing just won't go in. Anyway here's a pic of the offending item LINK http://img112.imageshack.us/my.php?image=fanje6.jpg Any help would be great. Cheers
the metal prong on the left of that product looks like it would screw into the SIDE of the PCI brackets one screw in each U-shaped channel at the top and bottom so the fans would be blowing across the PCI cards in the slots that it covers. Hopefully that makes sense
You know the screws that hold your PCI cards in? Take 3 adjacent ones out, and put them in the 3 holes in the metal lug on the left side of your picture. Lift the whole assembly up so that the 3 screws will go back in their holes, while still staying in the holes of the metal lug on the fans.
Like that. You need to put the u shaped holes underneath the screws which hold the expansion cover slot or cards. EDIT: The red parts are screws.
That's what I meant! My explainations are sadly rather terrible, and I'm really only hazarding a guess at any rate but it looks about right.
Lookat the picture you posted of the fans. See the bracket on the left? Look at the bit inside your case where the PCI cards go. See the screws down the side, that hold the cards in? Now follow previous instructions. No Brackets needed. You have everything you require.
This is getting embarrassing ..I'm still not catching on. Here's a pic of the inside of my case, could someone mark where I need to screw this in? LINK http://img231.imageshack.us/my.php?image=nospaceuk6.jpg ^^My Case^^ Thanks
From inspecting your case, I think you will need remove your USB expansion card and stick the fan over the remaining two. EDIT: lol I don't think you need any more fans in your case, I'm sure it already sounds like a jet engine.
Suprisingly quiet but my temps are still rather high. This just get's more complicated as we go along..USB expansion card?
No kidding that your temps are probably high.. just look at that dust inside your CPU heatsink! I'd really be inclined to give that a clean where possible. The plastic ducting probably doesn't do it many favours either as well as what looks like no front intakes.
