If this works, Dad will be getting free Internet, so any help is appreciated.. Okay, here's the deal, I talked my boss into letting me install a wireless link from my house to work "so it will be easier for me to get work done from home". I pretty much know all the basics in how to get this done, but my problem is that I need to shoot about 1 mile and it's obstructed with tree tops. Is this doable for under $250? If so, what kind of antenna will I need? I don't want to build any cantenna or wok thing as I may be able to get this subsidized through work as a "proof-of-concept" for local off-campus offices.
Should be doable with a moderate quality antenna. Look for something, directional with at least 8-12db gain. -scoob8000
I found a place where I can get 24dbi grid antenna's for ~$50 each. If I use these with 2 Linksys ethernet bridges, I should be good to go?
Good antenna, we're using two of the same to beam about a mile, line of sight, no obstructions and getting around 95% signal strength.. Not sure if its the same brand, but identical looking, same 24db gain... -scoob8000
