I need to install XP to an old 2.5" hdd in a caddy but I've never used a USB hdd before so can this be done? Is there the option to install to it in the XP setup? Am having muchos trouble installing any OS (windows or nix) to an old IBM thinkpad (has all external drives which I just can't get to read a CD)

    Thanks

What if you install it to a regular disk, and then use ghost to copy it to that disk?

when you first get to the os setup screen i think it says do you want to install a 3rd party scsi or raid driver - try going in to this (i know it isnt) and you might be able to install some usb mass storage drivers.

If you dont fancy that then the ghost option will probably work ok.
