I've just picked up an HP 3515 microtower and would like to run Win 7 on it. It's this model: HP3515 Microtower with MS 7778 Ver 1.0 motherboard It came with a fresh install of Win 10, but I have a requirement for a Win 7 PC temporarily. I have put the Win 7 disc in, and it's asking me to load a driver, which I've never seen before. The PC is AMD A75 with an A6 5400K APU. The HP site has drivers when I select Win 7 64 and I'be downloaded them onto a USB stick. The Win 7 installer can see the directory but doesn't see any drivers it likes? What am I missing??
Is AHCI enabled in the BIOS? If so you need the Windows 7 SATA drivers. Alternatively disable AHCI and install Windows. There's then a tweak to enable AHCI that needs to be made to the Registry before going into the BIOS and enabling AHCI.
I think I've got it sorted I went into the AHCI settings, and it was on RAID... Popped it over to AHCI and the Win 7 install is progressing nicely. I have drivers ready, so let's see where it goes. Thanks again
Installed. but can't get the serial number to work post install...grrr **EDIT** Reinstalled using Win 7 64 bit SP1 disc and all is well. Thanks
