On the restart i still have it from boot from cd and then hard disk. (Do i change it from that to hard disk then cd.) Anywayz, it says that it has a disk read error and to restart and it does the same thing over and over again.plz help
could b one of 2 things, a) the hdd is full of bad sectors and thus will not allow u 2 boot (had same msg on a WD 40gb so i kno the feeling b) its dead try putting it in another system if possible and c wat happens
Are you hitting enter (or anything) to boot from CD again? Because if so... don't. You only wanna do that once. It's possible you may need to format it in FAT32 also.
i am using the msi kt3 ultra . I put in another computer and the installation went smoothly.I put it back in the with kt3 and is says disk read error again. But in the other computer it loads up and everything works.what should i do?
Double check your IDE priorities. And set the jumper for master also. Remove any drives on the same IDE cable. I recently put together a setup (it had been years since doing this) and completely brain-farted about the Master/Slave setup. I put my CDRW on the same channel and it was previously set for master on a seperate IDE channel. It didnt go very well, and ended up exactly the way you described. Force the HDD to Master with the jumper (screw that cable select crap) and place the drive on the IDE cable ALONE.
