More Chipzilla news, as they arrive fashionably late to the desktop 64 bit party:

Intel has begun shipping limited numbers of Pentium 4 desktop processors supporting the firm's EM64T 64bit extensions. The chips, which are only available at a single clock speed, are aimed at single-processor workstations and servers, Intel said.

The Pentium 4 processor 3.6F with EM64T was made available at about the same time as the firm's Nocona version of its Xeon processor, which supports 64bit memory addressing in multiprocessor workstations and servers. The desktop Pentium 4 chip runs at 3.6GHz, the same speed as the Xeon chips.
