I've been a good boy and turned off Ad Blocker for Bit Tech now. I don't do that for just anyone you know. :)

..however, seeing ads for such quality material as, er.. 'Ride Along 2' is painful.

    That's your fault m8 :p

I'm actually quite impressed with the ads I get now. InWin, ASUS motherboards, Axminster tools and SousVideTools cookware rofl.

Chances are Bit Techs ad serving is done with a mixture of direct buys (likely the stuff from Asus etc) with the rest done programmatically - and the reason you are being targeted for that is because your online profile looks like someone that would enjoy that film, based on your age, sex, cinema attendance, the films you've shown an interest in before, and the hundreds and hundreds of other data points they have on you.

The 1Ghz lower clocked 10 core Xeon is roughly £1000, then it pretty much jumps up to £1500+ for the 12 core Xeons.

Looks an impressive chip but the price is way beyond what I thought it would be. I thought this was supposed to be the 'Enthusiast' range? With this sort of pricing, it's gone beyond that now.
I picked up a used 5960X last year and will be keeping that; does everything I need for now.

I also spotted a spelling mistake. Page 1, 3rd paragraph: available to some extend already

The original rumour was going around that it was going to cost $2349, so this is a considerably lower priced chip than we were thinking it would be. However, yes, it is a stupidly expensive CPU and encroaching on the server level territory, which will put all but the most enthusiastic enthusiasts out of reach of something like this.

Intel have basically said you want 10 core with overclocking here is your price. Anandtechs review suggests people will struggle to overclock it much. At 4.1ghz there temps hit 94c in a open test rig.

That's on one of the better all in one coolers.

Custom loops will be needed for higher sustained clocks.

If I was rich it would be fun to mess around with.

    Back in reality though lol.

Are there any dual socket motherboards for this? I'm buying FOUR of these right NOW!

You can only have one per system. So good luck with that.

You need Xeon CPUs for their dual QPI links.

You're wasting your time, I'm afraid - Little things like facts and logic carry no weight with Rubber*Dagger.
