    Intel Corp. released the final 1.0 specification for "Azalia", or Intel High Definition Audio, that will first appear in the Grantsdale chipset platform later this summer.

    Unveiled last year, Azalia will offer users 192-kHz quality, 32-bit, multi-channel audio, together with multiple array microphones for enhanced audio quality.

    The technology will replace the current AC'97 specification used within PCs since 1997. The technology will complement Microsoft's own audio standard, Universal Audio Architecture, used to create drivers for HD Audio, USB audio and 134 audio technologies, Microsoft said.
