could they have picked a worse place to showcase these than youtube? nothing like grainy, poorly compressed video to make a good case look bad.

I was one of about six judges, so I couldn't have influenced the final tally in any way that would change the result significantly. Plus, I believe the votes were pretty much unanamous across the board. :)

I am a little curious what was the criteria you used to pick the 3?

ya that would be interesting to know, I know it mentioned a few of them in the rules but what was discussed or what did it boil down to?

Sure, here's the brief I was given:

    Style and design is obvious

Functionality - I judged this based on whether the computer was usable like a normal computer. Could I upgrade easily, was there a DVD drive so I could play games/movies from the disc, etc.

Performance - That came down to the specs and overclocking. There were several higher-specced machines than the ones that won, but they fell down in other categories. The Sphere for example, was one of the lowest-specced machines in the competition and it was running at stock speed IIRC.

ya they are going to need to come up with a better way of judging next time, to many potential issues with selecting the top 10, kinda reminds me of how american idols are picked and the issue with auto dialers lol, not to mention how youtube doesnt always record the star votes that people place.
