It is impressive how long the 'Intel Inside' brand has lasted, especially because things move so fast in the technology sector. However I would surmise that they wanted to keep it the same to allow customers some sence of security with an ever changing product line. I think the change is for the better though as having the new logo on the front of your PC will instently let everybody know that your computer is the latest and greatest thing.

I like the new look, more modern imo, but they must have spent a hell of a lot if intel aren't releasing how much they spent on the change, and the campaign.

Wonder if AMD will do the same? Their logo could do with a bit of updating.

At first this might not make any sense, but I think this chang of Intel's logo is motivated by the bad-going developement of Intel processors...no doubte amd's cpu's are better than intel's and already few generations of intel cpus are wors than amd's, Intel has nothing to do, escept changing their logo, in order to improve their sales... ;) /i don't really know if what i wrote is understandible as I'm not very good at English  sorry /

To be honest i dont think that Intel really need to change their logo or anyhting for that matter. Intel is such a well recogniced brand. If oyu ask any average joe if he has heard of AMD or Red Hat they will have no clue, most of them think that Windows/Intel is hte only thing out there.
Saying that over the last couple of years AMD has become a litle better known by people.

Considering that most of the people I know who just KNOW how to use PCs think their computer is an "Intel Inside" and nothing more. "Leap Ahead" will probably just make them think "haha, this is swanky and new."

I love the way AMD have tried to copy Intels viiv with their own AMD Live offering, I can't imagine it working nearly so well with all the marketing/hype Intel have done/created. AMD just don't have the same kind of budget!!

AMD have quite a clever solution, produce a product people prefer, and you get brand loyalty, and people advertise by word of mouth, for you, for free. Cheaper then Intels 1 Billion USD advertising campaigns that annoy the hell outta people.

OTOH, The fact that the Intel system is more expensive than the comparable one with AMD Inside hasn't really hurt Intel in a world where most people firmly believe you get what you pay for, whether it's a cooker or a computer. Bang per buck is a great unknown to most punters, but the fact that System A costs more than System B, with the same broad spec, surely means the "Intel Inside" sticker will get little Johnny and Jasmine better marks at school, and an AMD sticker won't impress their friends any more than a new Ford Fiesta would. Common sense, innit? :D

    They ruined a classic.

Though outdated, I loved the old Intel logo and "Intel Inside" slogan, as well as that annoying little dum-da-dum-dum-dum jingle.

I thought it would only be the "Intel Inside" change, but I guess they changed the drop "e" logo as well.

They should never have changed their image. Old Intel worked well for them, and they had no reason to mess up a good thing. Just try to imagine McDonald's losing the golden arches, IBM losing their striped logo, or Walmart losing their happy face!
