    Hey, just a quick question.

I recently upgraded my BIOS on my Asus Sabertooth P67 to the latest version. When I went to overclock my i5 to 4.5 GHz like it was before, I found that Intel Speedstepp Technology isn't fuctioning. Checked my settings, they're the same as before.

Anyone know a fix or if this is a common issue?

i found this before, when it wouldnt boot from a too high overclock i tried. so as usual, reset the computer, booted up fine again but went into windows and it wasnt working

i changed absolutely nothing but speedstep wasnt functioning

i cant remember what i did to fix it in all honesty lol. it might have even fixed itself

If you're using Windows 7 then it's worth checking the 'Minimum processor state' is not set at 100% in Power Options.

Is that the minimum power state? If I want to run a 1.6GHz downclock, what's the best minimum percentage to allow?

It's 'Minimum processor state' under the 'Processor Power Management' option in my settings. Mine is set to a minimum of 20% but it doesn't drop below about 2.6GHz from 4.5GHz so 1.6GHz might not be possible even though in theory it should drop to 1GHz.

In the bios, I have found disabling or leaving c1e state on auto affects speedstep...
this is on a P8P67 and P8Z68 tho

N17 dizzi - good point. I have to disable C-State to get stable overclocks which might be why mine doesn't drop below 2.6GHz.
