    From the Inq:

CHIP MAMMOMOTH Intel has quietly changed its plans for selling Xeons, and all new Xeon 533MHz DP parts are now MP parts with L3 disabled or of limited size.

This is very cunning but indicates that AMD's Opteron has given Intel a severe attack of the heebie jeebies, we suspect.

A look at Intel's new data sheets shows that processsor ID, errata, and core are now identical, while there's a fresh stepping of the chip too – it's now rev M0.

What does this mean? It means that any MP chips not totally up to scratch and where the Level Three cache isn't working properly – it's half the area of the die can be sold as a regular DP Xeon and allows the chip firm to benefit from economies of scale.

what you should have said JADS is 'Who? Moi?' much more fitting anways!

as long as AMD sell enough chips to stay in business then its all good. Bout time intel got pissed on even if it is for a short period.
