    that will be interesting

however, somthing will probably go wrong

the the "core" procceses will be the ones that crash, so the machine will be useless until you get back to it ....

So much hype, and the best name they could come up with was a rip-off of Wipro? :p

Why :sigh:? Sounds great to me: server management features in every desktop would kick ass if you were admin at a large corporation.

Yep looks like useful stuff for the market

Interestingly this could be negative for dell, hp, ibm(or whoever they are now) as a customer could mix and match machines with the same remote management interface.

but ther hardware is the bit that needs the management

so you should be able to control it from lots of PC's, but only specific PC's can be controlled

Yes only intel , but that is 100% of what I see in the places I work - there isn't much AMD penetration in the big-corporate area.

Thats what I dont like about intel, they try to do everything and they usually screw up somewhere. It seems that they are more concerned about looking good than actually making anything worth buying. For me to ever think about getting an intel rig they are going to have to change, there new core will have to be cheaper and much much better than anything else thats out at the time for me to give it a go.

thats somthing i think intel do wrong

their proccesors are very expensive, AMD can sell theirs cheaper then intel ....

i wonder if intel just has a bigger profit margin or if they cost more to make ..

    What do you mean?
List of Intel's big ideas/products/(co-)developments/market pushes:
    8080
    486
    Pentium Pro
    Pentium II/III
    PCI
    USB
    WiFi
    Itanium
    Netburst (P4) processors
    RAMBUS
    Centrino
    PCI Express
    DDR2
65nm (tricky because it's below limits of traditional techniques)
    VIIV

And which ones are screwed up? Itanium, RAMBUS, Netburst (and DDR2 to a certain extent, probably due to Netburst though). I'm sure there are things I've missed, but I can't think of anything else that's gone badly wrong. That's what I think is cool about Intel: major new tech. AMD are far ahead with performance in games and power consumption at the moment, so Intel loses there, but Conroe looks like it's going to seriously change all that.

    Things that AMD have done:
    Lower prices for years
    64-bit
    Dual core
Far better power consumption (at the moment)
Far better gaming performance (at the moment)

They're pretty balanced if you ask me, each with their own share of innovative products, past and present.

I'm sure I've missed things from both lists, could people add?

Intel could sell a lot cheaper, being a bigger company but pricing AMD out of business would get them into a lot of trouble.

I'm not sure what you're on with this one. Sure Intel have had a couple of probs over the years (early Pentium floating-point, he i820/40 Rambus chipsets, Prescott power consumption), but hardly a disaster zone. There's a lot of good product gone out in that time
Did you read the news story? This is about virtualization tech and remote management. Hardly trivial consumer bling

Well I'm sure AMD will love to hear they've got your custom before the tech is released, but the rest of us might opt to make an intelligent decision bast on who offers the best performance or value for their individual requirements.
