MY AMD gaming rig was pretty decent. But in my next comp I am giving Intel a try. MANY of the programs I use for graphics and video editing will utilise dual CPUs (or in the case of a P4, Hyper Threading).

I've had my luck overclocking a barton to ~2.5 GHz, though I pushed it too hard too fast and left it crippled, it will no longer make it past 2.3. Now I wanna see what a watercooled P4 "prescott" can do. Yeah, I know the pipes are a lot longer in this one, making it less efficient clock per clock, but these longer pipes also make it more tolerant of higher FSB timings. I have seen these CPU push the high 3ghz range on air cooling, so I want to try and push 4Ghz with some good watercooling kit and some nice PC4000 RAM.

I still like my AMD rig, but I have never had a P4 based system, so after I get my system built I will be able to say whether or not intel sucks ;). Though it seems that the P4's really love the extra memory bandwidth they get with fast RAM while encoding video, and the HT will help me out in a lot of my programs.

Hmm, I think I just restated some stuff in those two paragraphs, but I'm too busy to gback and rework it. umm... yeah. so basically, like the PC vs MAC war, both have their place in life.

If you're on a budget or you're making spare rigs, then AMD.

But for my main rig, nothing but P4 .... A 2.8C at stock speed seems a lot faster than an overclocked 3200+ at 2.3 GHz+

So right now, I would say Intel.

Havent had any experience with the 64-bit stuff yet tho ...

I hate polls like this personally... it's nowt but a fanboy poll.

I'm sure we've had a poll like this before, but search isn't working and I can't be arsed to look for it.

I personally love AMD, however the only other CPU i've ever had / tried was an Intel Celeron... 566MHz
