yesterday i went over to my friends house to rid his computer of spyware/adware. i was able to get rid of a lot of it but one problem remains....one that i have never seen before. he cannot use any search engine. we tried yahoo, google, altavista...nothing worked, it would just freeze . i've been looking this problem up on other sites but havn't found a fix for it. i just thought i would ask here incase anyone has experience with it. thanks for any help
Search for his HOSTS & LMHOSTS files and make sure that there is nothing in there telling your browser where to look for the search engines. Also if your running Ad-Aware do a customize scan and tell it to search the HOSTS file.
