My TV has started suddenly getting interference (artifacts and sound spluttering). I first noticed it on ITV 1, every few minutes the sound would make a quick spurt of a noise due to interference.

Then when next door was using a weed wacker (I think, or a lawnmower), it would cause some interference on my TV. I also got a bit of interference when, downstairs in the kitchen, someone was using a whisk or maybe the blender.

Again, all this on ITV 1, I don't think this happened on BBC 1. Edit: I'm now getting random interference on occasion on BBC 1. EDIT 2: It's getting worse. It's now also affecting Five, and rather than the odd spurt every few minutes, it can get as bad as full on losing signal. It happens for a few seconds.

Just now, I turned on my Xbox 360 (plugged into the socket next to the one my extension which my TV is plugged into), and specifically ITV+1 (or was it ITV 4?) and QVC had major interference to the point the channels were just a hectic garbled mess. ITV 1 and all the other channels I looked at were fine.

I noticed that there would only be slight interference as my Xbox was booting or shutting down (it takes a few seconds because of messing with cloud options -_-). The major interference comes once the dashboard has loaded after 10 or so seconds of booting.

I took out the aerial and put it back in all the way, and the channels were somewhat ok. Slight interference still.

My TV is connected to an aerial outside, no box. Again, this has happened pretty suddenly, not had a problem before. Am I just gonna have to shave and fiddle with the aerial end or is this something else?

EDIT 3: Not getting any interference during the afternoon, it must be due to other appliances turning on and being used.

Is it when you power up high power devices around the house?

Take a video on your phone if you can, I'm wondering if it's being caused by a drop in current, do you run a booster box on your aerial?

It seems to happen at random other than the times I mentioned, but for all I know that could be someone next door or in this house plugging something in or turning it on.

I have an aerial on the wall outside and a cable runs from it, through the wall, straight into my TV.

Perhaps some shielding on the coaxial cable has failed. Or worse again the grounding on your TV or set top box.
