Hi all, at school we can connect to the internet in the sixth form common room via the use of a proxy. To do this we were told to enter it into internet explorers lan settings under the proxy address and through port 80.

My first question is, is it possible to do the same fore firefox as when i tried entering the proxy address it didnt connect to the internet?

My second problem is that when i get my laptop home i have to remove the proxy settings to connect to the internet is it possible to set it up so that when it connects to the school wireless it automatically connects via a proxy, and when through my home network it connects normally.

Thirdly after being connected to the school wireless for roughly 15 mins the connection times out and i have to reconnect again which is a pain as i have to reset my laptop as simply repairing the connection or disabling and enabling doesnt work. Is there a way round both of these problems?

Thanks any feedback on the problems is very much appreciated.

By the way im running xp pro on an ibm x31, if that helps

in device manager.. double click on your wireless network card and disable power saving, this will fix the card from going to sleep and never coming back on until reboot- this even happens on newer laptops, lame

makes me wonder sometimes on the software end of things on these pre-builts.. on netbooks they'll even load it up antivirus and a bunch of crapware and wonder why people aren't happy with the speeds + the netcard goes out :sigh:

here's profiles you can make (with shortcuts) for the different proxies setup in firefox

proxies are setup in avanced > network > connection > settings

In firefox , advance option -> secury option-> set,you can use the same proxy setting in it.

about 15 mins go dead and must reconnect wifi,I think it is caused by OEM softwares ,you should use windows wifi manager to connect wifi, try again.
