Also, does anyone know of any sites like ebuddy or emessenger.net browser based versions of msn where the servers are located in Europe and not the US where I can actually access it?

    Thanks in advance

Well, I'm not exactly sure how to use proxies properly and... are you sure it would work I mean the problem seems to be the internet SERVICE that is not being provided properly.

Nonetheless i'll give it a try, e-messenger.net's actual website loads but the actual service doesn't, presuming it's on an american server :/

This happend in 99 or 2000 or something in Australia, iirc a ship took out our tansatlantic link cable, random sites were screwy they wouldent load or load impossibly slow, then a refresh would get the front page only to have the rest of the site not work. So I feel for you.

yeah, it is affecting me here aswell

I have a bank account with Bank of China HK and actively use their internet banking services to monitor my stocks and shares.

When I hear about the earthquake, the first thing I thought of was to check my shares to for the effects but I couldn't access the site because it was down. Any other monitor is 1 hour behind, which was really annoying.

Makes me wonder how deep these cables are in the sea and how impossible it must be to repair especially during the colder harsher weather at sea now :/

News that one of the repair ships seems to have malfunctioned means that the repair will take slightly longer, God help us please.

I wonder how easy or difficult it would be to set up some temporary satellite links until some or all of the cables are repaired.

Uhhh you'd need quite alot of cables.

But whatever the'yre doing now is improving teh connection dramatically but I think we're just rerouting our connections throughout other parts of asia for the moment.

Amazingly most of the locals weren't affected too much since they used the local and china located websites.
