Arrghhh my net went down last night which was annoying.

I figured that maybe telewest are doing some (extremely) late night work or something.

But it was still down this morning.

Thing is all the lights are active on the modem and router.

I have tried resetting it multiple times but I am getting no connection, and the IP is set to the loopback IP (198.164.0.1).

    My setup is:

    Cable Modem to d-link router.

    Xbox to d-link router.

    D-link router to pc.

I have tried directly plugging the cable modem into the NIC but still the same problem.

Also I can't see anything in the router settings?

I am getting pretty stumped for ideas!

    Anyone?

Well, since plugging the modem directly to your computer doesn't work, I assume your internet company is down. I suggest you call Telewest and see if they are having problems in your area.

Just cause it went down at late in the night doesn't mean they are doing work on it, it could mean like something took down a cable somewhere.

Funny that, my internet connection went down sometime last night, twice actually and once for an entire day on friday (luckily I wasn't home :D), but as Casey said it could be your ISP, or perhaps your phone line, give BT a ring for a line or exchange test.

Get a number for 56K and when your internet connection goes down again, dial the 56k to see if you've got a connection.

BT working during the night isn't uncommon, I've seen them working on my local exchange at 2am about 2 months ago, probably to reduce disruptions.

make sure when you reset the router you retyped the internet settings into the router some routers do a factory reset when you press that button.......annoying hey :miffed:

    Back up!!

    Got back from college.

I went on the telewest page earlier, and the status didn't indicate anything.

Mines been playing silly for the last few days, I'd been suspecting a new router modem but swapping back to the old USB frog didn't help. I'd suddenly be unable to open any webpage. Try again half-an-hour later, OK. :wallbash:

Nobody else on the various Pipex forums has been moaning, so it may be the local exchange here in Mexborough. Or bad Karma.
tbh, that's the last place I'd look. Check with the ADSLGuide forum first, then any TW newsgroup.

My Telewest has been playing up recently, with high pings for gameservers every so often as well as general slowness. Cut for for 30m a few weeks ago, too (Online light on the modem was just flashing on and off, all others were fine - couldn't access it at .1.100)
