Are you still able to get into Windows ?

If not then BOOT from the XP (I assume its XP) CD and goto the repair console and do a fixmbr

I don't think fixmbr / fixboot would make any difference since the problem is with boot.ini so it is finding it alright. Can't remember the command to make a new boot.ini.

Anyways, since you are able to get into windows, what does you boot.ini say?

if the problem is related to the boot.ini that lists the operating systems installed and where they are located.

you can edit the settings via a text editor (not recommended unless you know what your doing) or via the control panel, system, advanced, startup and recovery
