Inventor does have a function called Pack-n-Go under the File menu that seems to collect all the required files for whatever file you've got open and put them in a single folder of your choice. What I've done this time is make a new .iam and stick one of each of the models ( as .iam files) inside it and then use the pack-n-go on that overall assembly file, should be much easier than doing it manually. I hope you don't mind being a guinea pig but id like to find the easiest method as ive got quite a lot to get through. By the way, molex post 3D models of many of their connectors that can be used in Inventor, unfortunately I don't think I can post the models of mine that contain molex files due to copyright. @Moriquendi: I took the liberty of extracting your SFX PSU - No Fan and repackaging it on it's own and put it up under your name. The other two (with fans) need the fan iam and components zipped in aswell. Alternatively you may upload them seperately but make a note in the description of the PSUs that the fan is available seperately.
When I used Pack-n-Go I got a load of xml files and things :/ Edit: After looking I can see that the files are exported under the Workspace directory. Edit2: I've updated my first post with better instructions.
Ok, after a little more messing around im going to try again. It seems that as i have all my computer components in a library, even when i open a .iam file and there are parts missing it manages to find them which is why i didnt notice that there were parts missing last time. Hopefully this will work better. Moriquendi
WOOOO at last!, Ok ill get some of the other stuff up asap. Oh just one point, the SFX psu that you labelled fanless, it isnt its just that some SFX psus have a fan that sticks out the top 10-12mm where this one dosnt, the fan is entierly internal, if you could change that on the description it might save some confusion. Unless you just delete that file now that the whole set is there including the SFX Moriqendi
That's a good idea, I'll delete it. I added your fan as a separate component though, as it's an awesome and handy peace of work
Ive just posted all my other fans too though they're all in a collection, i take it you'd rather have them individually? Moriquendi Edit, umm did you attribute my fan to Minty perchance?? Second edit, its a nexus, i just didnt bother changing the names of the component parts when i decided i was going to buy nexus'
I've been trying to upload some more files but I get "upload failed" every time, is the site down? Moriquendi
So I did, apologies. I will update that Edit: That's been updated, and generally collections are fine, especially with things like fans, as long as there's a good description of what's in the collection As to the site being down, I don't think so, I just did a test upload and it was fine. What was the exact error message?
I fixed a bug in the upload script that would throw an error if the file name had more than one "." in it, that could have been your problem, I also improved the error messages somewhat.
To bad I couldn't help you guys out I have a ton of inventor files at school which I can't get at b/c of summer break
I think there will be less interest in this than the sketchup one simply because fewer people will have Inventor, I still vote to have it stickied, you could also stick a link in your sig. Ive been trying to post a collection of PCI cards but they havent shown up, is there a problem with them? Moriquendi
They don't appear to have uploaded :/ I appreciate less people use it so it will always be less highly subscribed, however it would be useful for the people who do use it to have it accessible (i.e. stickied xD). And a link in sig is a good idea.
Used my dev hax to upload an image only hex mesh texture with some simple instructions on how to use xD If anyone has a better one I'd use that instead since I'm not much of an artist ;o
Ive got one somewhere... Ill try and dig it out, can I just post it as a jpg? strange about the PCI cards, ill try again but I cant think what's stopping it working. If you change the title of the thread to something like "Inventor Component Repository - ICR... Sticky???" we might get a mod to look it over and pass judgement. Moriquendi
Good plan, and if you upload it to imageshack or something and post the link I'll sort it out and give you credit.
