I hear that CCFL and EL wire inverters create alot of interferance, and therefor should not be placed near anything important. One of my CCFL inverters is currently behind the motheroard tray.. like this

    mobo

After about 30 mins of use.. I can hear a high pitched whine coming from it... its sandwiched right between the motherboard case and the side panel (covering the little vent holes)

Anyways, am i causing interferance to the motherboard and possibly killing my CCFL's?

Another concern is that they are running tubeless, just the internal glass tube and ground wire. The little wire could swing around and hit the motherboard traces or the case.

    :sigh:

So, my question is, am I going to kill anything with the inverter there? I would move it, except that the CCFL cables are short.

You probably kill before the inverters. They warm faster if not well ventilated.

I imagine that the steel of the mobo tray would block any interferance from getting to the mobo itself. Some inverters will whine, it may not indicate a problem.

one day my inverter started making whining noises. I thought it was my powersupply at first. Turns out one of the caps inside had exploded.. also killed one of my ccfls :eyebrow:.

It should be OK to put the inverter there, but i'd persoanlly dismantle it and drill some more holes on the other sides of it (im thinking its like most inverters and only has holes on one side..?).

which side of the panel and the high pitch shrieking how positive are you that its coming from. I think I have an idea of the shrieking I use to have the same problem turned out my Powersupply made this awful noise sometimes I would flick it from behind on the fan and it would stop. I would be positive where the noise is coming from.

I've heard nasty stories of pc fires due to overheated inverters. Get air to that thing asap :nono:
