Hey gang, i'm in a bit of a tough spot here. I've been playing around in WoT for three weeks now, forming a platoon of two with a good friend of min for 90% of the time. I really like the game, and with the prospect of persistant clan warfare, I thought i'd start looking into joining a clan. At this point it's worth to note that aside from a browsergame that stopped in 2006 or so, i haven't done any clan-based gaming, ever, nor have i stepped into the world of online FPS. I have no clue what drives these clans, how they work, how they organise, and what tools and mechanics they use to do so. So, in all my innocence, i applied to join a clan that plays WoT, but also BLOPS and BFBC2 and some other games. the next evening (yesterday), i was notified of a denial of my application, because my IP was listed in some ACS (which i assume means Anti Cheater Service). I share my internet connection with enough people that i don't think it's a wonder that the IP is blacklisted, so i'm not going to be able to dispute that fact or change my IP. I discussed a bit with the clan leader, but he didn't really seem to believe me , and the best advice that he could give me was to look for a new clan that exclusively plays WoT, so i don't get checked. This is sh!t for two reasons: the only 'clans' that fit that description are really not worth joining, and even if i'd find one, i'd essentially be lying to them, so if friend or foe ever checks me, now they would have a real reason to ban, name and shame me. The problem is though, that because i have now applied using this IP, even after i move and get a new IP, i will still be flagged. Am I permanently banned from enjoying proper clan warfare in this game and all others now, despite never having cheated, and having a trail of community accounts all in the same name, all with great reputations, all of which can be irrefutilbly linked to the real flesh and blood me, going as far back as 2002? As per my earlier explained n00bness in this field, i have no idea what to do now. Any comments/suggestions? Oh, and before you say 'get another IP': i can't because it's not me that has the subscription.
If you haven't cheated in VAC protected servers then you will be able to play Valves online games. If you haven't cheated in Punkbuster protected servers then you will be able to play those. And so on ... I don't recognise the cheat system you mention, but it sounds likely you will be banned from accessing any game protected by it. You just need to find out what games those will be.
No you shouldn't be. The clan I'm in don't check IP's... hell there isn't a reason because the one above you've given is a fair one, we'd just keep an eye on you like we do all recruits. We play WoT occassionally and CoD4/CoD:BO so we have no issue. I'm guessing it's your parents/uni's?
You could ask the clan which declined you which ACS your listed on and ask the ACS for advice. I can't remember the specifics but one our out clan's lads got banned a few years ago and after a bit of back and forth emailing with the ACS site they removed the ban as they couldn't give us any reason he's been banned or blacklisted. Not sure how things have changed tho, i stopped my clan days when my daughter was born close on 4 years back so i don't know much about how things are run these day. I didn't manage or run the clan so kept out of it mostly.
It's not the cheat system i'm afraid of at the moment, as i have been able to play WoT just fine. The problem is the fact that i'll have problems joining clans it seems. Also, just to be 100% clear, i didn't cheat. Cheers for that, so i guess there's hope for me yet I'm actually only interested in playing WoT for now, would it still be possible to apply? I'm guessing the clan activity in WoT will go up once clan features actually get released. And i actually live with a few collegues, housed by my employer.
Be silent you insolent whelp before I take your rep from you --- Can do mate, I'll PM you Yeah I'm sure they will... they all bounce from game to game extensivly >.< Plenty of Dutch people over there aswell
It's good to be picky about clans/guilds/corps/whatever... and it's also good to be picky about applicants. The problem you face happens sometimes unfortunately, as the first rule for clans/guilds/etc in competitive online-gaming is: Don't trust anyone, who isn't your friend in RL outside of the game. 10 years of MMOs on both sides of the fence has tought me this lesson.
Hah, look at mister l33t being a *****. Ofcourse i'm picky, i'm supposed to entrust my future in this game to these people. Also, i'm going to invest a lot of time and effort. Not being experienced or part of the establishment does not mean i can't be a valuable, active, and competent asset to a clan. I don't make any assumptions as to my starting position on the ladder, but that doesn't mean i don't have standards. Cheers man, we'll continue this discussion in PM i guess I know this lesson very well from my clan days in a browsergame. We had the most extensive security network of anyone, and counter-espionage and intelligence were my personal area of interest. I had a lot of fun in IRC I'm not stamping my foot saying the world should bend to my will here, i just have no clue what's just hit me, and i need some pointers as to how i should continue
pr!ck is hardly vulgar, actually the forum swear filter is making it worse ths time But admit it, you kinda set yourself up for a response like that.
hrmmm, much to learn he has. Now can we PLEASE get back on topic? Do i need to watch out for contamination my steam account and other accounts when i (try to) join servers from the banned IP?
Most likely you've been banned on a shitty community-based third party anticheat network that some servers rely on. It has nothing to do with VAC or even PB.
Admit that the Emperor is all seeing, all knowing and that you submit your life to his will and this we may agree on and henseforth be awesome once more. I agree with your conclusion, Xtra has been hit by a Shoddy non-VAC/PB cheat system that someones used on his IP before. Wouldn't worry Xtra
I got banned by GGC on CoD4 for no apparent reason. I appealed it and they took me off their blacklist but I still can't play on some servers. And does WoT = World of tanks?
2 reasons. First, read the thread. Second, read the thread. (sorry, we need to train Drago to be a better troll) See what i did there Drago? Yes it does.
Can the three of you, you know who, please stay on topic - I can't be arsed dealing with childish name calling.
