I've not seen or heard much, but the tech spec is below Will update as i get any info. A live feed is available here iPad 2 due 11th March in the USA, Europe unknown. Discus. Sam
Any word on the still image resolution of the back camera? Is it the full iphone 4 camera or the watered down ipod touch 4 camera? Or is it a new one?
I think it's time Apple changed the iOS up a bit, it's getting really stale now and even more so on an iPad. It made sense on iPhone (I have a 3GS myself) but on such a big screen they can really do something better than this. Smart cover thing seems neat, but I bet they'll charge a ton for it.
I prefer the appearance of the old one if I am perfectly honest, though the cover is a nice idea. Now if only I could pick up a first gen one nice and cheap...
Up to 9x graphics performance is pretty solid. The original ipad has done alright already - some tech demos like epic citadel have been quite impressive on the platform. The front facing camera was a bit of a no brainer. Bring on the video calling!
Does look very good. I think they said $39 for the poly ond and $69 for the leather ones. How that will equate into sterling is to be seen.
Apple's competitors are making it very easy for them. Apple haven't gone for a revolutionary jump forward in the technology, but hard to see how anyone can compete in the tablet space momentum wise (at the moment).
looks pretty mundane - nothing really unexpected. Nevertheless, I sold my first iPad at just the right time and apparently getting a bonus in April, so maybe I will re-buy a white one with an orange cover for teh lulz. Or a xoom. I am undecided.
Yea the white one looks ridiculous! I was very, very tempted by a black one this morning while reading about it, but then I remembered I'd have to use iTunes and realised why I'd never buy one. I just want drag and drop and have far more a/v support than Apple will ever offer. You can no longer get VLC for it unless it's jailbroken either :/ Also, $40 dongle to get HDMI? GTFO! I'll hopefully get my hands on a Gingerbread/Tegra2 unit in the next few weeks so I'm going to compare. The only thing the iPad has in its favour is physical size and weight at this stage - 8mm is quite lovely.
That's basically the train of thought I took this morning.. I'm very happy with VLC on my iPhone, but I don't think that I can put my backed up version on a future iPad too easily. I don't have any issues with iTunes though, what are your complaints?
It's ****. Bloated mess of drivers, DRM and proprietary bollocks that installs a half dozen extra services and just keeps saying NO NO NONONONO. Everytime I'm forced to install it I physically scream at it. It's become one of my life dreams to punch the lead developer in the face.
From what I've read the iPad2 should hit Europe on 25 March. @Bindi: You can actually activate and to some extent exchange data with most iOS devices using 3rd party tools. Read an article about it in German c't magazine some weeks back. Oh, and by the way, what's up with the lack of admin/moderator status. Did you leave bit-tech?
Have to agree with all of the above. That said i do own an ipod and and iphone. Price you have to pay i suppose.
