thought id let you know bit-tech. And my fellow bit-techers with iphones. Do not post here if you are simply here to slag the iphone/firmware, this is for firmware 3.0 discussion - you dont like it --> bugger off. Back on topic: 25% done so far ! curious to see its improvements! Video of 3GS available running it on youtube - it looks much faster in performance than the 3G!
hiya, Here in London on a usually very fast line im getting seriously slow downloads. got 3hrs left Cant wait though XD
installed quite quick! although i was trying every minute before launch and must have got in first. Nice update! the safari browser feels faster?
Is anyone getting an error after the phone restarts? It's claiming the connection to the itunes store is timing out...
Generally seems snappier than the previous version. Installed it almost 2 hours ago and i'm still waiting for O2 to set up MMS. Text MMS to 1010 if you didn't get a text from O2 regarding setting up MMS (according to the O2 site).
Argh I hate itunes got to 200 then timed out n resarted I wish my internet was better slumin it at 500kb a sec when im paying for 8mb.
I had to restart a few times but it's working now... I had a look around and apart from a new mic app and spotlight, I had to go online to find out what was new... Doesn't seem like much
oh, so this is why they had the rollout 2 days before the 3gs. to avoid tanking the servers completely!
tried this Tim? http://gizmodo.com/5294248/iphone-30-upgrade-process-deactivating-some-phones-from-att
Loving it so far. Especially tethering: http://help.benm.at/help.php Follow the link on your phone after 3.0 upgrade. On Phone: Goto Mobileconfigs Click on your country Click on your carrier Download an install the carrier file. Go to Settings > General > Network on your iPhone Turn on Tethering. On Mac Connect an iPhone lead to your iPhone and your Mac A message will pop up saying a new network interface has been found Goto System Prefs > Network to see the new interface. Select it, and hit apply. Should then pick up a DHCP address from the phone. I'm sure it'll work on a PC as well, but cant comment on that. Surf away! No MMS here though yet - apparently it may not get turned on until Friday according to O2.
Cheers GOO. I'm still confused as to how O2 are going to differentiate between tethered and normal data (to catch all the naughties!)
nope, didn't work... continually clicking update (and going through the extraction) until it worked seemed to work though - it's updating now after repeating the above about 15 times. I don't like hammering servers, but it appeared to work for someone in the Gizmodo comments so I thought I'd give it a try and it's worked.
