Installed it easy peasy this morning. Am liking the integration of MMS into the SMS conversation - pictures just appear as little bubbles, and you can click to see the full size image.
Apparently Vertigo is the one to go for, as it has the new updated iData APNs which everyone should be using now. As for MMS, it took a while for mine to sort itself out. I texted MMS to 1010 last night, and again this morning. It switched itself on (recieved pic message from O2) at about 09:30. You just have to be patient.
Splendid I thought it would have a setting in there, but I didn't have much time last night to look for it. I've just updated to the vertigo one fingers crossed. O2 sent me a txt very early about mms and then sent the mms 20mins later. Very impressive.
can you install multiple tethering profiles and switch between them? theres virgin media and t-mobile too! and i take it this vertigo is another one? Do we get charged for using non o2 ones? Thanks!
Just changed to Vertigo, dunno if it'll make any difference at all... I'd laugh if after all this, by using a non standard connection thing that's how they found us all out.. Also text MMS to 1010 again since changing, maybe it'll make some kind of difference.. AND AGAIN!... where's the percentage for battery life that we've been told about previously or am I just being dumb... I really would like to have that functionality..
http://www.apple.com/iphone/how-to/#basics.charging-the-battery Epic fail. Guess apple is trying to give people another reason to 'upgrade' to the 3G S. Alternatively..
Interesting, especially since my 3G iPhone has been showing the percentage the whole time. Now, I did come from a Jailbroken version of iPhone OS 2.2.1, so that might have something to do with it... (I did an update, not a restore)
so can OS 3.0 allow tethering to Wi-fi through a wire? im thinking my Belkin wireless adaptor may be having some problems, thus need another wi-fi adaptor.
I upgraded and now Facebook crashes when I try to open it. I've tried rebooting and reinstalling the app, neither worked.
Yes - it should. It was on mine when I first connected, as it picked up my 'G' Wifi at home. I went into the settings on the phone and turned wifi off, and it picked up the 3G signal. Strangely, it seemed faster on 3G!
More thoughts from me on the 3.0 software later, but for now all I can ask is - How useful is tethering to me when an iPhone connected to my Acer Ferrari 1000 BSODS it!?
Anyone else think Music's 'shake to shuffle' feature is useless because you actually have to be in Music app for it to work.
heads up on the tethering: the 'vertigo' profile worked flawlessly on a brand new 3GS. visual voicemail and MMS all still work, although i did set up voicemail after i tried tethering out.
it's like an ipod touch with a phone - pretty much exactly what i expected. some nice usability tweaks here and there, and it seems a lot nippier than even the ipod touch 2g. the compass in Maps will come in very handy as i walk around london a lot.
Anyone have any idea on upgrade choices from 3G to 3GS? I worked in an electronics store for a year selling phone contracts and I still cant make head or tail of whats on the o2 website regarding the upgrade choices. I'm on the £45/ month iPhone 3G contract and got that as a free upgrade from my standard 1st gen iphone, which I had since the UK launch. I like the look and sound of the 3GS. I wouldn't want to have to shell out full retail for it though, considering how much money I throw at o2 every month as it is :/
