3G and 3GS were given native unlock support and it's built into the iPhone 4 already

Jailbreak is totally diffrent and will be a few days at least before we see the phones jailbroken again

I'm waiting for the 3.1.3 w/ 05.12.01 jailbreak + unlock as well that was promised with the 4.0 launch.

Oh, rollo - so if I upgrade I can use any SIM as default now?? It's only the unlocking I'm after.

if you're with O2 you can fill out a form on their website and they'll unlock it for you. wait a week or so for it to go through, sync with itunes and robert is your father's brother.

What do I need to do?

First, complete the unlocking form. It will take up to 14 days for your iPhone to be unlocked and we'll text you to confirm the unlock request.

Then place a non-O2 sim into the iPhone and connect to iTunes via a USB cable. iTunes will confirm that the iPhone has been successfully unlocked.

Having trouble unlocking your iPhone? Visit our FAQs to find out more.

Jailbroken 4.0 on 3g. Multitasking works great! Mail is improved no end, no more press-press-press, read, then back, back, then press-press.. etc.. Seems responsive enough. Just restoring apps now :)

Actually, as far as I understood, you ARE allowed your NHS.net account on a personal mobile. Because of the way the emails sync you can only view them while connected, and if you lose your phone, you log onto your NHS account, remove the lost device, and the account automatically "deletes" all the emails OFF the lost device.
    Pretty Swish.

    Correct me if I'm wrong?

UhmyeahOK. I think I should mention, Kamikaze-X, that I am a member of the Stakeholder Engagement group of NHS.net. Not only are we allowed to sync to iPhones (and the manual on NHS.net tells you how), but some of the very techheads who built and maintain NHS.net use iPhones too. :)

do_it_anyway is correct. Although it stores synced emails on the device (so I can still read them if there is no signal), if the account is blocked or deleted stored emails are wiped at the next sync attempt. The account also enforces the access lock on the iPhone and locks the device after 5 minutes of non-use (you cannot disable this). If you lose the iPhone, you just log on to NHS.net and remote-wipe the device of all NHS.net emails, contacts, calendar data and account settings.

    Not officially, no.. :)

Can't get terminal to run and also can't install unsigned apps through itunes.. I'm sure there'll be a fix :) sbsettings runs well.

Multitasking actually works really well. I can see why it isn't officially supported as the free ram does dwindle a fair bit when running a fair few apps.
