    Hey there, ho there.

I decided 2 weeks ago that I'm going to spend some money on an iPod. Knowing full well the rumours of the Apple event yesterday I waited to buy one. Now I'm completely torn between buying an iPod classic or an iPod Touch.

Seeing as how the iPod Touch and iPhone are probably very similar both under and over the hood, I wanted to know from iPhone owners what happens when you click a link to an MP3 file in a webpage in Safari. Does it play the file? Can you save it? Does it save to the iPod's library?

I want to know because the iPod Touch would be great if you could somehow play songs that you don't have with you but are stored on a/your server somewhere. Is the Wi-Fi usable for anything else besides buying choons and surfing webs?

I think i remember reading somewhere (engadget or something) that you cannot save things off webpages at all. Not sure about playing though but i doubt you'll be able to...:(

Yeah they probably crippled it - making sure to generate maximum profits from their iTunes WiFi store.

my friend has an iphone. when you click on any type of media link it will open up "quicktime" and play it. iv tested this on mp3, mp4, avi, and mov, they all work perfectly. you can download then but i believe that once they get the file system on the iphone/touch opened up ull be able to save any files, but in the meantime at least you can play the files.

I'm a bit annoyed you can't download mp3's to the iPod touch from safari.
