    hi

i thought it was a good idea to upgrade my jailbroken 3.0 iphone 3gs to 3.1.3 and jailbreak it.
now i lost all my apps, but that's not the real problem.

But now i can't make any calls or send sms, its not connecting to any network and i have no settings for that in the settings and i can't choose any carrier :( so it's just an ipod touch now

do i have to activate/unlock it somehow ?
i really need help with this

Try connecting it to itunes and doing a restore. You should have a backup stored in there somewhere.

    This ^

Also maybe not Jailbreaking would be another answer. When I first got my iPod touch I jailbroke it and really didn't feel it nor did I enjoy knowing i'm ripping off all the authors that take the time to make apps.

Also updating from the app store is extremely easy and there realistically isn't THAT many apps you need to pay for unless your desperate for them.

Go on, be a nice person and pay real money

i got it to work now, had to install untrasn0w.
also i don't jailbreak it to download apps for free. i only jailbreak it to use SBSsettings, proswitcher(multitasking) and to have a custom theme.

Jailbreaking isn't saying "I steal apps" though.

I jailbroke my iphone so I can use external Bluetooth GPS devices rather than the inbuilt and to use apps Apple won't let onto the store.

I admit I did use some games for free you would have to buy but loved that that much I bought them just for the updates!

As for the original issue, I was going to suggest ultrasnow, glad it's sorted

3.1.3 can NOT be jailbroken, geohot himself said he isnt doing it as theres no difference between it and 3.1.2, you'll have to wait for 4.0 now if you want to jailbreak :/

I've jailbroke 3.1.3 using redsnow (i think) which uses 3.1.2 firmware, phone stays as 3.1.3 though

    You can't unlock a 3.1.3 yet though

Did you backup your shsh files?

You can always restore back to the normal apple firmware. I've never had any problems with jailbreaks, and an iPhone to me is useless without a jailbreak not for free apps, but for customisation and oh yeah you can use your bluetooth to actually SEND files. something that apple seem to think is too much for their customers lol.

My iPhone is currently borked as well. I unlocked & jailbroke it so I could use it on her network except when I went to clear all the settings and stuff off of it - it bricked it so now it gets stuck at the apple logo.

    Sad times.

Gonna try restoring it via iTunes at some point but been too busy at the moment :)

Why don't people just pay like £10-£20 to get it officially unlocked from O2?
I don't see the point in people paying over £400 for the iphone only to save like £10 for unlocking it!!!
