Apple appear to have stopped selling black and white ipods... the basic ipod is now a $299 20GB ipod colour.

    Very interesting!

Fair enough. I still wouldnt go for one though. I have a 20gig 3g iPod and would now much prefer something like an archos video player.

So all the have now is a 20GB and 60GB. That's a pretty big gap. :p

  7. iirc there's a 30gb & a 40gb.

    I'm probably wrong tho :p

That's my point, there no longer is a 30GB or 40GB. You either have to choose 20GB or 60GB. They need a 40GB or something in between IMO.

  9. Oh right, my wrong (as usual :duh: :hehe: )

yeah.. but the price between the 20GB and 60 GB is only $100. it hasnt always been like that. so for an extra $100 you get 3 times the space. thats a pretty good deal..

You'll also note that the iPod photo has effectively merged with the standard iPod.

I just do hope that when I (ab)use my extended warrantee I get a color and not a B&W. I've heard of people fairly recently warranteeing their 3G's and getting a new 3G back (they must keep quite a back stock). We wouldn't want any free upgrades, would we. I suppose that one might hurt hard drive makers with the 5yr warrantee, seeing how fast HDD capacity is increasing!

HDD capacity's increasing loads recently, but nobody's really using it yet! iRiver U10 should have a 10GB 1" HDD drive tbh, and everything else should really catch up with what's going on as most of these devices still don't have enough memory believe it or not. I have about 12GB of music and I'd like a zen micro photo that can handle all that + storage space. It's surely possible if they create a perpendicular hdd to compensate for this, but yet they're still only going to be 6GB max afaik. Same could go for the iPods and mini iPods, and every other mp3 player.
