Although I can't find a press release, the iPod Mini was announced during the keynote address at the Macworld Expo. You can find all about them here.

Personally I think it's a complete waste of money. I was really looking forward for a 2GB player in the $100-$150 price range. Instead they offer a 4GB model for $250. You can just pay an extra $50 and get the 15GB model! True it might be a little smaller and ooohhh, it has color, but that doesn't make it worth $250 in my opinion.

I think $150 and a couple of Gig and they'd have massive up take imo, as it is, I don't think they'll fly out. At the cheaper price, I'd probably get one.

    Another thread here as well.

Check the link I provided. It's not as ugly as most people are making it out to be though.

I like it actually. 4GB is plenty for me, and the extra small size is nice too.

Wouldn't want to pay too much for one. Prices are gonna have to be at least half that of the 10GB model.

I think people completely misunderstand why the new mini iPod isn't cheap. It isn't simply a matter of using a lower capacity HDD and reduce the price.

The HDDs used are 1" (possibly 1.8") drives, now these are both rather rare and expensive presently. The normal iPod uses a 2.5" drive, as do most other large jukebox drives. The Creative Muvo^2 uses the same HDD as the iPod and costs >£200 and I suspect the mini iPod will cost about the same when it reaches the UK.

I would prefer a 2GB drive from Cornice... Although I've never heard of them before, they are based 20 miles from my house. I would like to pick up a few ;) .

Forget those things. I got to try out an Archos Gmini 120 20GB player today - it was sooo awesome. And it's only about $200.
